The Foundation exists to raise money for the school and its students. Below you can see just a few of the projects we have paid for recently.
Year 5 Treginnis trip, 2024
In Year 5, both classes spend a week living on a working farm in Wales. Treginnis Farm is run by the Michael Morpurgo Foundation ‘Farms for City Children’. The farm is set by the sea in a stunning location providing plenty of fresh air and hearty food. The children experience all aspects of farm life; early starts, feeding and caring for animals, the use of tools on the farm and even shovelling the mess! It is hands down the best experience any of them have ever had – just ask any current Year 6 pupil!

Year 6 Condover Hall residential – January 2024
In Year 6 the children are lucky enough to visit Condover Hall, an Elizabethan mansion house refurbished in 2011 as an activity centre, and surrounded by acres of gardens to explore. Whilst there, they will have the opportunity to experience abseiling, archery, kayaking, an aerial trek and zip wire among many more exciting activities.
Each year, in partnership with the school, the Foundation ensures that no child misses out on these vital experiences by providing all necessary extra funding.

This much-anticipated event brings the Canonbury community together families for a festive morning of music and celebration. Set in the stunning, historic venue of Union Chapel, the concert showcases a range of performances from the talented young singers and musicians of Canonbury Primary, celebrating the joy and warmth of the winter season. With a blend of traditional and contemporary songs, the concert is a highlight of the school year.

Brass instruments – ongoing
The Canonbury School Foundation provides exclusive, enhanced music opportunities for Canonbury students. Through its support, every child in Years 5 and 6 receives a brass instrument, along with full maintenance, enabling them to explore and develop their musical talents. Additionally, children in Years 3 and 4 are given their own recorder, fostering early musical skills. This provision ensures that all students have access to high-quality music education, enriching their learning experience and encouraging a lifelong love of music.

Percussion instruments – Summer 2024
In Summer 2024, the Canonbury School Foundation generously funded the purchase of percussion instruments for the entire school. These instruments are now an integral part of music lessons, allowing every student to engage in hands-on learning and explore rhythm, sound, and creativity. From drums to tambourines, the new instruments are used across all classes, enriching the music curriculum and bringing joy to the children as they discover the power of percussion.
